Mild political rant
Mr William Hague quite nicely pointed out this morning on the news that the point of the airstrikes we are participating in are not to remove Gadaffi... Well that's fantastic, lets destroy the country, take away their airforce, (which Libya has a right to own,) and leave the country defenceless. But then once we've done that decide the whole point of weakening them is to strengthen a bond and to allow Libya to decide its future for itself.... urm... ok. MAYBE before this we should of cleared it up a little for the Libyans who think Gadaffi is a saint, show the images and videos of his supporters shooting at ambulances and hanging the green and white colours over the buildings covered in bullet holes. We are creating a war by attacking without communicating properly to the people of the country we are attacking!! Am I an idiot for thinking this? Am i being naive? Because it seems to me we run our state of affairs without much thought to the actual effect they have! And thats not just with Libya. I never paid much attention to how the country was ran, I trusted people to do their jobs... especially when in their campaigns they seem so keen to do them. Anyway, I'll put some paintings up in a minute in a new post. x

hello lovely, we're doing this in sociology and i find it all quite interesting so i'm going to tell you what i think. basically, we are only authorised by the UN to impose a no-fly zone, which rebel leaders asked us to do. the rebels don't have weaponry to defend against gadaffi's airforce, so if Libya was to keep control of it (like you say) the battle is lost before it even begun. also, rebel leaders have specifically come forward and said that aside from the no-fly zone they want no western involvement. now this could've changed in the week since i last had a nice debate about it in lectures, but as far as it stood then our job (as concerns the Libyans) is to make the fight fair and then leave the hell alone. though of course as soon as there is an opportunity we will get troops on the ground and balls it all up coz william hague is an idiot. but untill the UN gives an ok to do that - which hopefully they won't - it's pretty safe to say that the no-fly zone is all we'll do coz we don't wanna pay for it ourselves (see how we waited til the UN footed the bill?) i think it's good we're staying relatively out of it for now as there are other arab nations with the capacity to fight this fight alongside the Libyans if necessary and essentially it is their fault, not ours, and after the failure in iraq we should really stop putting our foot in it. and Libya definitely should NOT have an airforce right now. hope you enjoyed my rant as much as i enjoyed yours, haha. this is a good'un, i like that you took the time to post about it coz it's important and very relevant. NOW BRING ON THE PAINTINGS!! lovelovelove xxx
